Repair Services Terms & Conditions
1. Introduction
This Camera Repair Contract (“Agreement”) is entered into by and between Coastal Film Lab (“CFL,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and the individual or entity submitting a camera or other photographic equipment for repair (“Customer,” “you,” or “your”). By dropping off or shipping your camera (or other equipment) for repair, you agree to the terms and conditions outlined below.
2. Repair Services
Receipt & Check-In
- Once we receive your camera (by drop-off or mail), we assign it a unique twin check number and record it in our system.
- Your camera then enters our Awaiting Quotes queue, where our repair technicians examine it.
Repair Quote & Preferred Communication
- Within approximately 2–3 weeks, a technician will evaluate the camera and provide you with a quote (“Repair Quote”) detailing the estimated costs and known issues.
- All quotes are sent via email to the address you provide, and we prefer all communications regarding the quote and approvals take place via email.
- It is your responsibility to monitor your email, including spam folders, and respond to our communications promptly.
Approval or Denial
- You may approve or deny the Repair Quote via email or agreed-upon method.
- If you deny the quote, you have 90 days from denial to pick up your camera or arrange return shipping at your expense.
- Failure to act within 90 days will result in the camera being considered abandoned and becoming CFL property.
Service Queue & Good-Faith Turnaround Estimates
- Upon approval, your camera is placed in the Service Queue.
- Good-faith time estimates: under two hours – within 90 days; over two hours – within six months.
Completion & Pick-Up
- We will notify you upon completion. You have 90 days to pick up or arrange for shipping.
Abandoned Cameras
- Failure to act within 90 days after completion notice results in abandonment and camera ownership transfer to CFL.
3. Customer Responsibilities
Accurate Information
- You must provide accurate contact and shipping information and update us with any changes.
Timely Responses
- Delays in communication may affect service timelines.
Pick-Up & Shipping Costs
- You are responsible for all shipping costs after quote denial or repair completion.
Payment
- Payment is due upon repair completion and before the camera is returned or shipped.
- Partial or full prepayment may be required at CFL’s discretion.
4. Limitation of Liability
No Guarantee of Results
- CFL will make commercially reasonable efforts but cannot guarantee resolution of all issues.
Liability Limit
- Our liability is limited to the lesser of the fair market value or total repair cost quoted.
- CFL is not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
Shipping Risks
- Shipping is at your risk; purchasing insurance is strongly recommended.
Abandoned Equipment
- Unclaimed equipment after 90 days may be deemed abandoned and become CFL property.
5. Warranty & Disclaimers
90-Day Limited Warranty on Repairs
- We warrant repaired functional issues for 90 days post-pickup.
- Warranty covers only the parts and labor listed in the repair quote.
Third-Party Parts
- CFL is not liable for defects in third-party parts beyond any supplier warranty.
No Other Warranties
- We disclaim any other express or implied warranties.
6. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CFL and its employees against any claims arising from your use of our services or breach of this Agreement.
